Ferryman Limited are Hiring Class 1 Drivers!

In September we at Ferryman changed user of Transport & Warehouse Management System (TMS & WMS) to HaulTech. We will soon be sharing our thoughts on this new system. We have so far been very impressed with the set up and support from the HaulTech.
Here is a piece Jack Watson wrote for the HaulTech website:
Ferryman Limited have joined HaulTech for a bespoke Transport Management Software solution which will see their work be processed more efficiently and expertly.
30 years ago, Ferryman began their transport operations with just one vehicle and now has over 20 HGVs in its fleet. The company is based in Pontllanfraith, Wales and provides its collection/ delivery services across the United Kingdom. The haulage firm prides itself on using its many years of industry experience to provide an excellent experience for all its customers. To process their work, the haulage professionals were using a Transport Management System however outgrew its needs and opted for a feature-rich solution from HaulTech.
Ferryman Transport required a system that would support their haulage and warehouse operations and found that was possible with HaulTech. General Manager, Richard Morris commented, “previously we have had to duplicate work but HaulTech’s transport and warehouse systems talk to each other which eliminates a lot of duplication work for us.” The multi-award-winning software systems from HaulTech are fully integrated and automatically update each other, reducing data duplication by an average of 80%.
With this full technology upgrade, Ferryman has also introduced the Customer Service Portal. A simple-to-use, web-based portal which allows its customers to add work, track where a job is at and view invoices. Richard said, “This is a major step forward for our business, it allows us to strengthen that relationship with our customers and work more efficiently.”
The company drivers will also benefit from the new suite of products. With the introduction of HaulTech.Connect, drivers will be able to receive their work through a mobile app. The app can also be used to capture signatures and/ or photographs of a delivery or collection, this information is then sent to the Transport Management System and eliminates the hassle that comes with losing paper PODs.

The Pallet Network (TPN) put on a fantastic event on Saturday 24th September for the Annual TPN Gala at the Hilton in Birmingham!
Our TPN staff member Justin attended the event and was blown away by the fabulous event.
The events have been fantastic in the past but this one sounded truly spectacular. After a few years of the event being unable to happen it was fantastic to have everyone together again.
It is great to see so many members, staff and partners of the network celebrating and enjoying an evening after all the hard work‼️
Here are some pictures from the night, which included performances from Beverley Knight and The Greatest Showman Cast and hosting from Stephen Mulhern.
We cannot wait for the next one!

On Saturday the 17th of September 2022 we held a CPC Training Session at our in house training facilities at Ferryman HQ.
This training concentrated on very important first aid and it was an interactive session with the staff having plenty of opportunity to get involved. As you can see in the photos we saw some great acting among the staff.
What is CPC?
CPC is training that drivers must do to keep their license. You must do 35 hours of periodic training every 5 years to keep your Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) to drive a lorry, bus or coach.
These sessions vary in content and we ensure all our drivers have ample opportunity to attend CPC training at Ferryman. An external trainer comes in to go through the essentials.
The feedback from the drivers after this session was very positive:
‘It was a good laugh and welearnt some valuable information, it was brilliant’ – Ashley Kirkpatrick.
Thanks to the trainers for taking the session & to Ash The Trucker for catching these moments!

The team at Ferryman are proud sponsors of Shelter Cymru, and all the hard work they do for those dealing with housing issues. We at Ferryman really support the cause Shelter Cymru stand for which is to defend the right to a safe home in Wales. In what have been a very testing few years for people and charities we want to support and raise awareness of the incredible work Shelter do during these difficult times in people’s lives. We know that every donation counts and our sponsorship of Shelter is important to us as a company.
We have been supporting Shelter since earlier in the year and have already undertaken some fundraising efforts with more in the pipeline.
We have raised money through raffling off 6 Nations Rugby Tickets among the staff, through a sponsored Newport Half Marathon and ongoing sales of Ferryman merchandise to our followers. Our very own Trucker Jenko has been vlogging about the merchandise and also has been taking it along to Truck Shows for fellow enthusiasts to purchase. All proceeds go to charity.
We are working alongside Penny and the team at Shelter to create more fundraising events and opportunities and will be releasing details soon.
For now if you are interested in donating to Shelter Cymru you can do this on our Just Giving Page. Any amount helps this great charity. For donations of £15 or more we will send a Ferryman Thermal Mug and Ferryman Air Freshener to you. All you have to do is send us an email at [email protected] letting us know you donated, giving us your name and the address for postage.

Please get in touch if you want to learn more or donate to this cause and follow us on social media for more charity events we will have coming up.

We are always communicating with our customers about their experience using our services.
It is essential we get customer feedback to ensure we are providing the best standard of work across haulage, storage and pallet network.
Our Pallet Network operation has been getting busier with local customers utilising the flexibility and ease of this operation. Customers have access to a variety of service options at great prices.
Our standards always remain excellent and that has been displayed in the fantastic feedback from our customers Top Regal(below) and Genpower (above).
Read below to see what they say about the Ferryman The Pallet Network service:

We are pleased to say one of our biggest site improvement projects to date is now complete.
If you have been following us you will know that we have had the wonderful Dragon Roofing & Cladding on site for a few months working on one our warehouse roofs.
We are always looking to make improvements to our site, our fleet, our operations and therefore our customer experience.
Improving the quality of the roof and the storage environment has been on the agenda for a while. We we really impressed by the whole experience we had with Dragon Roofing. From the initial discussions through to the final handover.
The workmanship was excellent, the communication professional and it was a pleasure having them on site working on this project in what were at some points typical testing British weather conditions.
Here are some of the photos of the work and the final result. Not only is it protecting us from the weather it also has created a much lighter and pleasant warehouse space.

Thanks for all your hard work Dragon.
We still have some warehouse storage options available if you are interested in storing goods with us. Get in touch at [email protected]

Here at Ferryman we have started 2022 with a bang! Our first project of the year was completing our designated training centre on our premises for staff. This year we are concentrating on improving our training and training facilities and investing in this new space to house our training was essential.
We extended our original small training room to create a conference/boarding room style training centre above our Ferryman HQ offices. We have kitted it out with training resources and a interactive screen for presentations and training sessions.
This screen is suitable for trainers to take courses and plenty of seating and desk workspace.
We also wanted to give the room some added identity and character. We strongly believe in using local help where possible, and we used a locally based graffiti artist ‘Walls by Paul‘ to create a piece of artwork for the room. Check out below the fabulous work he did using graffiti to paint our flagship vehicles and logo to give the space needed colour and identity.

We now can cater for our staff CPC training on site. Currently we have had a few sessions run on the weekend for our drivers to attend with an external trainer.
However, we are looking to extend our training offerings. Our office staff member and ex Class 1 driver Paul has just completed a driver assessor training course with RHA and passed with flying colours. He will now be rolling the training out with all our drivers. It will be part practical out on the road and part class based and we will be creating a continuous training plan for all staff. The emphasis of the training on safety, awareness, and fuel efficiency.
In the near future we will be looking to extend our training offerings to our own staff and external applicants. Covering a range of topics and areas of haulage and warehousing.
Keep your eyes peeled for training opportunities here at Ferryman Limited.

One of our main goals here at Ferryman in 2022 is to start working towards being a more environmentally conscious company.
We already have achieved progress in lots of areas of our operations to be a cleaner company and have started looking at further areas we can improve. Here are the some of the efforts we have already made:
To start 2022 we made an investment in a new electronic forklift from SWIE – a Mitsubishi Edia EM range FB18 Electric Forklift.
We know the importance of moving from gas to electric and we were extremely impressed by its compact design yet spacious cab, the Edia EM is the most intelligent and the most agile electric forklift on the market.
The Edia EM range is packed with features, it delivers the manoeuvrability, power and reliability you would expect from a Mitsubishi Forklift.

The spacious yet enclosed cab will be really appreciated by the staff, particularly on those colder and wetter mornings!
We have been impressed with the professional and communicative service from SWIE. Are you thinking of going electric? If so get in touch to see how SWIE can help.
We have plenty more environmental initiatives to work on this year and we will update you as we achieve them!

Given it is the start of the new year we wanted to take this opportunity to update you on the developments we have made here in 2021 and highlight the services we can offer you in 2022.
While last year did present many challenges across the logistics industry, it was also a good year of progress here at Ferryman with many improvements to our site and fleet. This has enabled us to offer even higher quality options to our current and prospective customers.
LOGISTICS
On the logistical side of our operation, we saw many new editions to our fleet, improved dashcam systems, more driver training among many other upgrades. This means we are running an extremely new, safe, and efficient fleet. With options ranging from FTL (Full Truck Load) to Last Mile logistics.
To discuss direct haulage options email: [email protected] or call us: 01495222300, option 1.
WAREHOUSE
The Ferryman warehouse saw major structural changes, with a new roof and new racking creating a safer, more spacious, ambient environment for our storage customers. We have also made investments in a new warehouse management system allowing customers to better manage their storage with us. Investments in new equipment, including cleaning machinery and electric forklifts will ensure a cleaner warehouse. Upgrades to our CCTV and security system guarantee a safe space for customer goods. Our options range from long or short-term storage to exclusive rent of entire units.
To discuss warehouse options email: [email protected] or call us: 01495222300, option 4.
THE PALLET NETWORK
Our pallet network operation ´The Pallet Network´ also saw major advances. Again, more new vehicles on the network and a more structured back-office with a new specific TPN office space creating a more streamline system. Our award-winning pallet network can offer you a variety of service options in getting varied sizes and quantities of goods all over the UK.
To discuss pallet network options email: [email protected] or call us: 01495222300, option 2.
We look forward to hearing from you and assisting you with your enquiries.

From the Ferryman Team – 20.12.2021
As another busy year draws to a close here at Ferryman, we want to take the opportunity to thank all our staff, customers, suppliers, and the organisations supporting the logistics industry.
We also want to acknowledge our fellow haulage businesses, who alongside us, have faced some huge challenges this year. With all your support against all the obstacles this year has thrown at us, we have still been able to drive this amazing business forward.
It is an understatement that 2021 has been another turbulent year for the haulage industry. COVID has again affected travel, social events and supply chains as well as the continued fallout caused by Brexit.
Regardless of this, we celebrated turning 30 years old this year, and there have been big changes here at Ferryman as we look to invest in the future. New staff, new roles, new vehicles, new contracts, new operating systems and site improvements are just the start of what we have achieved. Check out some of our other articles on our News Page to see what we have been able to accomplish this year!
The industry has changed so much in our 30 years of operating and will continue to do so. What sets us above the rest is our fantastic team and the pride they put into their work. We are taking this high standard into the new year and we are excited to see what 2022 has in store.
A Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year to everyone from the Ferryman Team.

What a year we have had here at Ferryman Ltd. We celebrated a huge milestone that was our 30th Anniversary and all the exciting changes that came alongside this. Including special edition lorries, introducing our team through #Teamtuesday, a rebrand of lorries with new wraps and much more….
The more recent big changes we are making here at Parc Ferryman include major site improvements.

While Rapid Racking are busy kitting out one of our warehouses with more racking for high quality customer storage, Dragon Roofing & Cladding have been busy starting our roof overlay.

We are always updating and improving the Parc Ferryman site to create a better working environment for our Ferryman logistics and storage operation. But also to create more ambient warehousing space for our current and potential storage customers.
Check out the extra light being created by the roofwork:

What we can offer:
300,000sq foot of ambient warehousing capability. From offering tailored pallet storage solutions for large or small customers OR the capacity to sublet units on site – we can accommodate your requirements.
Short term or long term solutions are available. We want to work in partnership with you to offer a solution which fits your needs.
In conjunction with the logistics solutions available on site you needn’t go anywhere else for your storage and transportation requirements.
Our site is manned by onsite Security during hours when there are no staff scheduled and is accredited and monitored by Rentokil.
Get in touch to discuss warehousing requirements – [email protected] or 01495222300.

We have a lot of site improvements going on here at Parc Ferryman and we wanted to share with you some of the changes we are making!
We were well overdue updating our Ferryman signage around site – including a big Ferryman sign to indicate our buildings. We got the team at Refayce in to see what they could do for us.
They were a pleasure to deal with, quick to provide a quote and give us a date for the work. They gave a very professional service and we couldn’t be happier with the results, check out this huge sign…

We added some down lights to help the sign be seen in the darker mornings and nights. This has really helped improve the visibility of the sign and it can be seen from the local main road.
We also asked the Refayce team to come in and quote for window wraps for our new The Pallet Network – TPN and Security Office. They fitted the windows with these great contra vision wraps and reflective strips to ensure visibility to vehicles but also able to give the office privacy and light.

Thanks to the Refayce team for the great job!

For all our customers using our Pallet Network – The Pallet Network – below are the Christmas dates for inputting pallets into the network.

Thanks,
Team Ferryman

What an achievement! Ferryman are proud to be a part of this award winning network. After the year we have all had, its great to get some good news and recognition that despite everything we, as a partnership, have managed to continue to deliver on our promises.
“We have held this title since 2019 and we are thrilled and proud to carry it through to 2022,” says MD Mark Kendall.
“We were the only network not to falter during the early pandemic, the issues arising from Brexit or the countless other challenges the past 18 months have thrown at us,” he says.
“We will always be proactive in trying to address the issues which hauliers throughout the UK contend with, as well as ensuring a resilient and forward-looking service,” says Mark. “It is our hope that these initiatives and TPN’s unique Partner-centric culture will help to inspire necessary change across the logistics sector.”
Onwards and Upwards!!
Congratulations to all at TPN for their continued hard work and commitment to getting it done and getting it right!

On Sunday 5th September 2021, 15 supporters of Tenovus Cancer Care took on The Dragon Drop Abseil, plunging 120ft to help raise vital funds to support cancer patients and their loved ones.
Among the participants were our very own Mat (Head of Backloads) and Martyn/Trucker Jenko (Class 1 driver & lorry vlogger). They had a blast on the day, with Mat doing the drop twice! Trucker Jenko got some great video clips of the day to share on his vlog, check it out here – Watch Vlog!
Tenovus Cancer Care have been our chosen partner charity for 10 years and we our proud supporters. We have been involved in a range of fundraising events, including a trekking trip to the Himalayas and raising awareness through our 30th year special edition trailer Tenovus dedication wrap.
The effort and support in the lead up was fantastic with them raising over £3700! A massive thanks to everyone who supported them and made a donation. It is much appreciated. The day overall raised more than £8,000 and counting! Ferryman made a huge contribution to this total figure!
Thanks to Blue Ocean Activities for their help with the event and giving the participants confidence and support throughout the abseil.
A big congratulations to everybody who took part in the Dragon Drop Abseil! Thanks to the Tenovus team & Becky for organising this great event!
Some great pictures here of the Ferryman Team taking on the abseil:

Watch this space for the next charity event for Ferryman!

This year Ferryman has attended its first ever Truck Shows. Our very own vlogging driver Trucker Jenko has been a big supporter and attendee of these events in the past. So when he suggested taking along our own Ferryman Edition 1 – we thought why not!
This spurred on a little run of Ferryman Lorries at Truck Shows throughout Summer 2021.
We started off with Devon Truck Show back in June. Here lots of Jenko fans came along to see him and the Mercedes-Benz Edition 1 from Euro-Commercials at their first show together. We were pleased to see we had lots of fans of the amazing truck and the accompanying wrap from Pop-in Vehicle Graphics. This flagship lorry was to celebrate our 30th Anniversary as a company and we have had a fantastic response.

Shortly after our great friends at Watts Truck & Van asked if they could take our new DAF from them to show at the Truckfest Malvern. Before we received delivery it was taken to the show and shown off among other new DAF models. It looked great, especially with the wrap that we are now rolling out to all new lorries.

The final show was at the end of August where Trucker Jenko went along to Truckfest Peterborough and took Claire (AKA Mrs Jenko) along to show off her lorry too. Claire started with us back in June and has been gaining experience and now is smashing it as a Ferryman Class 1 driver. A lot of people went along to see them both and it has been wonderful seeing all your support for our first ever couple drivers.

Thanks, Team Ferryman

Ferryman are now proud owners of a public access defibrillator
We at Ferryman felt it was essential to have a public access defibrillator on site. Parc Ferryman is a big site and we have staff or security on site 24/7. You never know when this piece of equipment might be needed and it could be essential in helping save someone’s life.
It is a cause close to our hearts here at Ferryman and a big thanks to our Accounts Manager Vicky for organising alongside June & Jacks Appeal ABUHB . June Thomas has been actively campaigning and fundraising for defibrillators for almost 10 years.
She set up Jacks Appeal to provide free information and medical advice to those wishing to learn more about Out of Hospital Cardiac arrest. They supply and (part) donate Life saving equipment with FREE training and awareness sessions for communities or businesses.
They have worked alongside CRY – Cardiac Risk in the Young in raising awareness. The work they have done is fantastic! Even managing to petition Welsh Government for #JacksLaw (mandatory AED availability in public places across Wales).
For more information on defibrillators get in touch with Jacks Appeal ABUHB & please spread the word on where your nearest defibrillator is located.

We are proud to announce we have teamed up with Watts Truck & Van to supply us with our new DAF lorries. At Ferryman we are big fans of the DAF XF and will be replacing our current DAFs with new versions throughout 2021.
This is the first one we received at the end of May. It has gone to our long serving member of staff Tony who is really enjoying driving it.
We also are now as standard having the Anniversary edition wrap by Popin Vehicle Graphics on all vehicles as standard. We feel it really brings a fresh look to the fleet. Making them really stand out on the road.
As you can see in the photo above they are really catching the eyes of Truck Photographers around the UK. Kye Gulliford caught the DAF on the M4 near Swindon and sent this snap to us!

Our second DAF which arrived in July was shown at The Truckfest West Midlands before arriving with us. Watts took the freshly wrapped lorry to be on show alongside other top of the range DAF lorries. Here are some pictures from the show…

Watch out as more of these join our top class fleet…..

14th June 2021
As you know this year Ferryman Limited turned 30 years old and got some amazing Anniversary lorries to celebrate.
We partnered up with Euro Commercials – Mercedes-Benz to get our hands on Edition 1 which was given a special celebratory wrap by Popin Vehicle Graphics becoming our flagship lorry. We also received two brand new Actros lorries with wraps to complete our trio.
We loved the wraps on them so much we will be rolling out the wraps on all new lorries (already on our new DAFs). Being our 30th birthday what better way to celebrate than to freshen up our look.
Euro Commercials and Impact Press & PR teamed up to get great coverage of our new lorries and to share our story.
On the 3rd of June Commercial Motor exclusively released the piece and we were delighted with it and the response to it.
Look at this amazing front cover – Hope you managed to pick up a copy!
Thanks – The Ferryman Team!
